Why It Matters

The Midwest Democracy Network views political and government reform as a means to an end: to ensure that state governments more effectively address the kinds of issues of greatest concern to their constituents – health care, education, transportation, economic growth and others.

The MDN and its state-based affiliates – civic and political reform organizations in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin – collaborate on regional policy research and development initiatives designed to make state governments more responsive to the needs of their constituents.

These projects are designed to amplify the voices of reform advocates and in so doing, raise their profiles with elected officials and opinion leaders, deepen public understanding of changes that will make government more responsive and create momentum for reform.
