Citizens for Election Integrity released a report on the 2008 post-election audit and recount.

The report, “Eyes on the Vote Count,” describes the manual counting process in the 2008 Minnesota post-election audit and US Senate recount based on the reports of non-partisan observers. It analyzes the accuracy of the optical scanners used in the audited precincts and calculates the time and cost to conduct the audit.

In related Minnesota news, The League of Women Voters of Minnesota last week issued a statement defending the integrity of Minnesota elections: “Voter fraud is not an issue.” The statement was issued in the wake of comments made by a lead attorney for Norm Coleman to the state’s Supreme Court earlier in June. It highlights reasoning for opposing efforts to impose additional identification requirements on voters in order to cast a ballot.
